Terms of Service

Effective date: October 12, 2026

Introduction

FilmCraft Online (the “Site”), available at https://filmcraft.run, hosts the open-source FilmCraft video editor so it can be used in a web browser, together with guides and an optional AI panel. These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) apply to your use of the Site. By using the Site you agree to them; if you do not, please do not use the Site.

Our Privacy Policy and Disclaimer form part of these Terms. Questions can be sent to contact@filmcraft.run.

What the Site Provides

The Site serves the official FilmCraft web build, which runs entirely in your browser, plus guides and an AI panel. It is free and needs no account. We may add, change or remove features at any time, and we may update the hosted FilmCraft build to newer releases.

The FilmCraft Software

FilmCraft is made by the ArtCraft team and contributors and licensed under the MIT License or the Apache License 2.0. Your use of the software itself is governed by that license, which ships with it at /app/LICENSE-MIT and /app/LICENSE-APACHE. The Site is independent of the FilmCraft project; see the Disclaimer.

Your Files

Footage and projects you work on are processed on your device; they are not uploaded to us. You are responsible for your files and for having the right to use them. The recovery copy in your browser’s storage can be cleared by you or your browser, so save projects you want to keep (File › Save downloads an .fcproj file) and keep your source media. We are not responsible for lost work.

AI Panel and Third-Party Providers

The AI panel sends the audio, script, prompt or image you choose directly from your browser to the AI provider whose API key you enter (for example OpenAI, Google or OpenRouter). That use is a relationship between you and the provider: their terms, usage policies, prices and data practices apply, and charges are billed to your account with them. You must not use the panel to create content that breaks the law or the provider’s policies. We do not see, store or control those requests or their results.

Acceptable Use

You must not:

Our Content

The guides, page design and code written for the Site are owned by us. You may quote short passages with a link back. FilmCraft and the screenshots keep their own open licenses, listed on the About page.

Accuracy

Guides describe FilmCraft as we understand it at the time of writing. FilmCraft is in alpha and changes with each release, so menus and behaviour may differ from what a guide says.

Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The Site and the hosted software are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, files, work or profits, arising from your use of the Site, the app or the AI panel.

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless against claims arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Site.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. The updated version takes effect when posted here, with a new effective date. If you keep using the Site after an update, you accept the updated Terms.
